As a follow up to my last post, I wanted to do a quick blog on one more Kevyn Aucoin product that I adore. I have always been a tremendous fan of lip liners. But, more specifically,I love nude, natural, pinky brown, “looks like your own lip color” liners. I detest the dark liner/ light lip gloss look that was so popular in the early 90’s. I think that lip liners should enhance your lip and give the illusion of a fuller pout, and ever so subtly give a soft color base to your lip gloss (or lipstick) of choice.
That is why I praise and own every single one of The Flesh Tone lip pencils. I use every single color in my professional kit, and personally use Medium (a medium nude beige). The lip pencils come in six different nude shades ranging from soft nude, warm berry, to deep red. Most importantly, they all look incredibly natural, and won’t be competing with your lip gloss. You really can’t overdo these colors.
Makeup Artist Tip: My dear friend Stephanie adores using Blistex Deep Renewal lip balm over her lip liners and lipsticks as a touch up throughout the day to keep her lips soft. This lip balm looks fresh and moist over the lip pencils, and mimics a great nude lipstick look. I have used this (ok, I grabbed it out of her hands!) and it feels very moisturizing, refreshing, and not goopy. It gives a nice sheen to the lips, and is packed with Coenzyme Q-10. It also has SPF 15 which is perfect for summer!
