This weekend has been a wonderful whirlwind for me. I am attending the Lucky magazine FABB Conference here in Santa Monica, and have been surrounded by all things fashion and beauty blogger fabulousness. Today is the big day, and for those of you who can't be here, I will be live streaming the conference here! There will be amazing speakers, such as Zac Posen, Jessica Alba, The Beauty Department, I SPY DIY, the founders of Who What Wear, and so many more.
Fergie's Favorites for Wet n'Wild by themakeupblogger on polyvore.com
A few weeks ago I was able to view the newest launch of Wet n' Wild, and I had the opportunity to play and test out some of their newest formulations, and products. As someone who used their #666 lipliner, and BRIGHT PINK Mega Gloss all through high school, I was very impressed.
This week has tremendous meaning for me. This week honors the beautiful organization Look Good Feel Better. Their motto “Hope is Beautiful” stands for everything I believe in. When cancer takes over, sometimes the simplest act of a beauty routine can change the way you feel inside. Being able to see yourself looking healhty, looking normal, can be a tremendous courage booster.
Look Good…Feel Better is a free, non-medical, brand-neutral, national public service program created to help individuals with cancer look good, improve their self-esteem, and manage their treatment and recovery with greater confidence. They hold seminars that help patients learn how to deal with hair loss, skin care changes, and how to apply makeup that will withstand the harshness of their treatments.
My first foray into face oils was at the urging of my mother (why is she always right?!). At first, I scoffed at the notion of putting oil on my face. It seemed slippery greasy, and completely bizarre. Needless to say, I was wrong. Very wrong. This was years ago, when the natural health store was the only place to find holistic oils. Now, they are popping up everywhere, and to my delight, they are packed with skin soothing vitamins, minerals, and of course, those precious oils.
I recently found out that I have a male following on my blog. This got me thinking; as beauty editors we seem to forget that in the age of metrosexuals, baby boomers, and botox, men are starting to struggle with skincare and beauty issues too. In the land of appearance, and “youthfulness is king”, how could we forget that men too battle with acne, wrinkles, and aging.
I recently discovered a very cool makeup line from Austrailia called Gorgeous Cosmetics. In fact, I just spent an hour devouring their site, and drooling over the products. What also impressed me was the stunning face charts, and well put together makeup kits. I am always grateful and take note of a company that tries to work with the basic colors, and looks that everyday woman need.
