My first foray into face oils was at the urging of my mother (why is she always right?!).  At first, I scoffed at the notion of putting oil on my face.  It seemed slippery greasy, and completely bizarre. Needless to say, I was wrong. Very wrong. This was years ago, when the natural health store was the only place to find holistic oils.  Now, they are popping up everywhere, and to my delight, they are packed with skin soothing vitamins, minerals, and of course, those precious oils.

The wonderful thing about the plethora of skin and body oils on the market is that each one has a very different quality to them.  From light, to the deeply rich, these oils tailor to every different skin need and type. Yes, even the oiliest of skin can benefit from these magnificent products!

For use under makeup, I tend to veer towards light, hydrating oils such as Iris Moreau Rose Precious Rose Serum, which has the luscious Rose Damescena Flower Oil as its base.  This serum gives a dewy glow to even the driest of skin, and works flawlessly under makeup. Another amazing oil for use with makeup is Talika Vital Oils, which is loaded with Lavender, Rose, Jasmine Essential Oils.  I have blogged and raved about this product before, and it is still a favorite.

For richly hydrating, I look no further than my beloved brand YBF skincare.  Their Private Reserve Antioxidant Treatment Oil is pure extravagance.  It has become a nightly ritual, that I slather all over my face, cuticles, and even split ends. This is truly a one-stop shop for sumptuous moisture. The incredible thing about this product is that it only contains three ingredients; meadowfoam seed oil, Lipochroman-6 and sandalwood oil.  For people suffering with the driest of skin, look no further than this wonder oil.

For those looking for pure luxury, for the body, skin, and hair, than you should give Rodin Olio Lusso a try. The price tag is high, but the cult following agrees it’s worth every penny.

For body, I have been adoring Eight Body Softening Ginger Lime Oil.  It is light enough for the humid weather, yet powerfully moisturizing. Safflower Seed Oil – provides a protective barrier to prevent water from leaving the skin. It contains Evening Primrose, Avocado Oils, Soybean, Sunflower  and Coconut Oils, as well Vitamins A, B1,B2, D,E, Beta Carotene, and Omega 3+6.   So simple, yet so effective!

Below, are even more oils that I have tried and love.  The list goes on and on.  So, for those looking for soft, supple, touch me skin….oil should be your new best friend

I’ve been using Bio Oil on my face for the past several months with no negative reactions. It helps with my superdry skin and I even use a moisturizer (Laancome’s Nutrix Royal) over this. What is your opinion of that routine for moisturizing? I use a Lancome non- foaming cleanser and their most mild toner. I use the Clairisonic to get that top surface off and it has helped immensely because my moisturizers were just sitting on top of my skin before. THoughts on all this? THanks!!!

  2. Lizzie, Bio Oil is one of my favorites. I use it mainly on my body, but have had clients use it on their face with amazing results. Your routine sounds very well rounded. :)

i used to use bio oil. i mainly use that for stretch marks/old scars now. but for face and pretty much everything else i use pure argan oil. that junk does wonders! i have a combination skin and acne prone in certain areas (mainly depends on the time of the month) but the great thing with argan is that i feel like my skin takes the amount that it needs in certain areas. so like the drier areas will soak it up and stay moisturized, on my acne areas i feel like it soaks up enough to make the swelling go down and balance out my skin. i use it on my nails/cuticles to moisturize and i put a little bit on my ends (hair) after i get out of the shower. a little goes a long way too!

  4. Tina, I agree. Argan Oil is quite amazing stuff. I have loads of different brands I play with. Hmmm…on that thought, I will put up a post soon!
