BEAUTY INSPIRATION:
"I wanted to add a pop of color to her eyes to compliment the neutral tones of her outfit. We went with a smokier eye but kept it on the softer side by using plums instead of the traditional black."

GET THE LOOK:

Face:

Eyes:

  • As her brows are part of her trademark look, I accentuated her natural arch and filled in sparse areas using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Brunette.
  • Being that it was such humid day, I used a bit of Anastasia Dip Brow in Dark Brown to ensure that they stayed put.
  • I started the eyes by smudging Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Amethyst Aphrodisiac along the lash line and blended it upwards and outwards to elongate the eye.
  • Using the same purple eyeliner, I smudged it into the lower lash line and blended it out.
  • I intensified the lashes by smudging Urban Decay 24 Hour Black Liner into the upper lash line.
  • Blending the liners out was key so that the overall look was smokey but still soft. Then I lightly dusted the top right color from the Tom Ford Seductive Rose Eye Color Quad all over the eyes and brightened the eye by highlighting the inner corner with Shiseido Shimmer Cream Eye Color OR313.
  • To further accentuate the lashes, I gave them a light curl and added two Kiss Trio Short Lashes to each eye. These lashes are great because they give the look of individual lashes but it is done three times faster.
  • Lastly, I finished off the eye makeup with Diorshow Mascara in Black on the top and bottom lashes.

Lips: As the focus of the makeup was on the eyes, I went for a neutral rose tone, Tom Ford Lipstick in Spanish Pink, to accentuate her natural lip color and to compliment the purple smokey eyes."

Share on Twitter5 Share on Facebook3 Share on Pinterest0 Share on Google +11

Chrissy Teigen

DuJour Magazine sits down with this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover model, Chrissy Teigen as she dishes her favorite beauty products, and admits to breaking the biggest beauty rule - she doesn’t wash her face at night! Read below for five things we can learn about beauty from Teigen:

1.) When life is simple, life is good. From Teigen’s two favorite outfits consisting of jean shorts, a slouchy shirt and chunky boots, and a terrycloth towel to her favorite product- Aquaphor, her simplicity is perhaps something that makes her so gorgeous.

2.) Going against the rules of the beauty industry isn’t so bad after all. After making a comment that hinted towards the idea that she doesn’t wash her face at night, when asked the question, “You really don’t wash your face before bed?” Her response was,
“Never.”

3.) Plane rides can be a great time for pampering. “My face never looks better than when I get off a plane. Because I never wash my face before bed, ever, in real life, but on airplanes the second I get in my seat I use my face towels, I’ll use a nose strip, I’ll do everything,” said Teigen.

4.) Every woman needs her favorite beauty products. Teigen swears by SK-II face masks and under eye masks, Aquaphor, Benefit brow kits, and Oribe, and continues by saying, “I could go on forever.”

Taking Care of Your Brushes

Cleaning makeup supplies is perhaps the task we all dread after creating a look- especially if you have to create multiple looks in one sitting. From cleaning, to never having to deal with sparkly brushes again, check out some tricks and products that will make your life so much easier when it comes time to clean your brushes or apply unique types of makeup!

Cleaning your brushes

Use a gentle soap (bar soap can do) to clean your brushes. Some people like to use olive oil as well. There are a lot of gadgets available to help you clean your brushes, one of which is the Sigma Brush.

The Sigma Brush is great since it offers different textures for a fast cleaning. Be careful not to totally submerge the handle, and let your brush dry upside down since the moisture might affect the glue (loosening the hair and wow…you get a big, black hair on your bride’s lips) or even turn your wooden handle into a mold playground.

Cleaning between colors

So let’s say you do a very colorful makeup or you are working on a series of looks. I bet at the end of the day you have over 30 brushes to clean. You were in a rush and had no time to clean your brushes in between, so you end up with all your brushes dirty and a good hour of cleaning to do. This time is over.

Color Switch by Vera Mona removes the color from eye shadow brushes, helping the makeup artist switch to another color quickly and efficiently. Basically, you now can do a makeup look with your favorite eight brushes without needing to double up on the eye shadow brushes.

Sanitizing your hands

Using the traditional hand sanitizer can become quite repetitive. Mix it up with a French Lavender hand sanitizer. Still killing 99.99 percent of harmful bacteria, the sanitizer smell marvelous and helps you relax.

Other issues

Is glitter getting stuck in your brush? Try a Silicon Glitter Brush to stop ruining your brushes.

Get the Look: Judy Greer at the “Married” Premiere

Share on Twitter4 Share on Facebook5 Share on Pinterest0 Share on Google +11

judy greer photo

It's the middle of the summer so what better way to keep your summer look than to keep your makeup and hair light and fresh! Using inspiration from Judy's Jimmy Choo tomato red clutch, makeup artist Tamah uses a red lip to add to the pop of red. To balance the pop of color with the rest of the look, Tamah gave Judy a 'summer smokey eye' which gives the eyes definition while veering away from using the typical dark colors normally associated with the traditional smokey eye. With beautiful braided hair by hairstylist, Gregory Russell completing the look, Judy has given the summer look not only a new definition, but a perfect look for everyone to wear in just a few steps! Read below for the step by step to get Judy's look:

Hair Preparation. Start by dampening hair and blowing it out with an Ibiza round brush and applying Leonor Greyl Éclat Naturel to the ends of your hair.

The Braid. Next, part your hair down the center and pin up the crown section to braid last. French braid each side back and fasten the end of the braid with a clear elastic and braid the crown section (just a regular braid, not a French braid). Following the braid, pull out a few pieces around the face and loosen each of the braids and roughen them up a bit.

The Finishing Touch. After spraying more Kevin Murphy Resort Spray,  pin the side braids into two low buns and connect them with the crown braid. To complete the look, finish with Kerastase Laque Couture.

Eyes. Apply a thin layer of Benefit Creaseless Cream Eye Shadow in Flatter Me with a fluffy brush to keep it sheer. Next, use a touch of the top and bottom left shadows from the Dior 030 Incognito Eyeshadow Quad. Use the bottom right as a liner under the lower lash line. Apply Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in black directly to the upper lash line, and top it with Lancôme Hypnose Star Mascara in Black.

Cheeks. Use a touch of Make Up For Ever 033 Dark Antique Pink as a base, and top with Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Medium 2. Apply the bronzer with a medium sized fluffy brush (preferably one that is angled for bronzer).  Apply this to the cheeks and sweep it over the bridge of the nose, where the sun would naturally bronze.

Skin. Apply Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Foundation in 113 as foundation and concealer and use Laura Mercier Translucent Powder to set.

Lips. Use NYX Butter Lipstick in JuJu Amulette and MAC lip liner in Redd to set the lip line.

Get the Look: Becky G. at the 2014 Premios Juventud

Share on Twitter5 Share on Facebook1 Share on Pinterest0 Share on Google +11

Becky G
Makeup artist Jessica Smalls took Becky G's typically fresh and clean look and revamped it to a more grown up subtle look which is nothing less than sexy and glamorous. Read on to see how you can get Becky's new look:

Start with the eyebrows by brushing them into place with clear brow gel and begin heavily rimming the eyes with COVERGIRL Bombshell Intensity Liner in Pitch Black Passion. Once the line is dark and intense, apply a matte dark brown shadow to the lid, using a firm eye shadow brush. Once the dark brown shadow is applied, use Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Melted Caramel with a blending brush to blend the gold color into the matte brown. Using a clean blending brush, blend a soft tangerine color into the crease, to gradually fade and soften the brown smokey eye. Apply a wispy pair of false eyelashes and apply two coats of Clump Crusher Mascara and your eyes are done!

Moving on to the skin, hydrate your skin with oil free moisturizer and apply a thin layer of foundation primer. Let the primer settle for about a minute and using a dampened sponge, apply two layers of COVERGIRL Ready, Set Gorgeous Foundation in Natural Beige (205), waiting about 45 seconds between the first and second layers. Let the foundation cover what it can and then use Ready, Set Gorgeous Concealer in Fair (105/110) to cover dark spots and to brighten the are under the eye. Following the concealer, set your skin with truMAGIC The SunKisser on your temples, cheekbones and jawline to give your skin dimension. Finally, on the apples of your cheeks, apply Cheekers Blush in Pretty Peach (150) and sweep a loose shimmer powder over the entire cheek area and wa-la, your skin is ready to go!

Onto the final touch: Lips. Exfoliate your lips with a bit of granulated sugar and lip balm. Once your lips are soft and supple, use the remaining foundation off the sponge and apply it to your lips to rid your natural lip color. Using a lip brush, apply COVERGIRL LipPerfection in Heavenly (260) to your lips and top it off with Colorlicious Lip Gloss in Give me Guava (630).

And there you have it: a grown up look with a dash of sexy and glamorous! Click here to see Becky G's acoustic performance at Premios Juventud of her new hit single "Shower".
