Four Sizzling Looks For Date Night

Share on Twitter1 Share on Facebook5 Share on Pinterest0 Share on Google +11

date night looks

What better way to heat up your date night than with one of these super seductive looks? Whether you prefer a more demure, innocent face or want to get his blood boiling by going full-on fierce, one of these looks will be sure to please and lead to an unforgettable encounter!

Romance Him in Red!
There is no hotter look that screams seduction quite like the red lip. Pair that powerful pout with a smokey eye and loads of lashes, and he’ll be eating from the palm of your hand. For this look, start with a taupe shade of shadow applied all over the lid, then layer on a cocoa brown. Follow up with a thick line of liner on both top lid and bottom water line, and gently smudge. For lashes this lush, you’ll want to either enlist the help of a few falsies or reach for your favorite fiber lengthening mascara; 2-3 coats should do the trick. Next, line lips with a red pencil, one that’s slightly darker than your lipstick and smudge it toward the center of the lip. Finally, using a lip brush, blend in the red lip color.

Be Pretty in Pink…
If red is a bit too over-the-top for you, a sweet shade of pink may be just your style. To keep the look light and innocent, the eyes will be a bit more 'Old Hollywood' glam than smokey seductress. Use a silvery-gray shade of shadow with a touch of sparkle and apply to the lids and under the bottom lash line. Next, using a black, liquid liner, draw a thick line on the upper lash line, winging it out at the corners. Now, use a black gel liner to line the bottom waterline. Finish with several coats of black, lengthening mascara on top and bottom lashes. For the lips, line with a light to medium pink liner and finish with a pale pink, semi-matte lipstick.

RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS:

 Go Nude for the Night!

Okay, maybe not literally but at least your lips. This look is for the drama seeker who prefers to have the attention focused on her eyes. First, apply a dark, chocolate shadow to the lid almost to the brow bone. Then, use a black, sparkly shadow to shade the sockets of the eyes, extending at the corners. Next, use a black, matte shadow from about mid point of the sockets to the outer corners to deepen the drama of the look. Line the top lash line and bottom waterline with a black, gel liner and finish the eyes with a full set of false lashes and several coats of black mascara. For the lips, first line with a nude liner and finish the look by applying a matte, nude lipstick.

Get Him Going in Hot Pink…
If you require some serious color on your lips and seek a flirty eye, than look no further. For the eyes, use a light pink, matte shadow to color the lids up just above the sockets. Next, use a sparkly, white shadow and lightly color the inner tear ducks. Now, using a black, liquid liner, draw a thick line on the upper lash line only, winging the liner at the corners. Finish the eyes with several coats of black, lengthening mascara on both top and bottom lashes. For the lips, line with a bright pink liner and finish with a hot pink, glossy lip shade.

No matter which of these four fabulous looks you choose, you’ll be certain to set his heart on fire!

Makeup Tips For Travel

Makeup Tips for Travel – Pack Light, Apply Light

The key to perfect travel makeup is go light. Think of travel like exercise. Travel wears out makeup quickly if you cake it on. Trust me. You don't want your lasting memories to be splotchy pictures and acne from clogged pores. I have two main rules for my makeup when traveling – pack lightly and apply lightly. You really can't go wrong if you stick to these rules.

You Don't Need It All

No matter where you're going or how long you'll be gone, you won't need your entire makeup case. Only take the essentials plus a few extra lipsticks and eye shadows. If you really need something, odds are there will be a store nearby. Everything you need should fit inside a small clutch sized makeup bag. I do suggest using a cushioned bag to prevent any pressed powders from cracking or glass bottles from breaking.

My advice is to only pack a single foundation, concealer, pressed powder and mascara. If you don't already have an eye shadow compact with several of your favorite shades, go shopping now. Instead of several compacts, you'll only need to carry one to have day and night time colors. For lips, pack a moisturizing lipstick in at least two shades. Try to avoid glosses if you plan on taking lots of pictures, otherwise you're lips will be positively glowing and not in the good way. Now you see what I mean by pack light.

Apply Lightly

When it comes to makeup, more is bad unless you're performing on stage. I doubt you're on your way to headline a Broadway show, so remember to apply makeup lightly. Not only will the process be faster, but when you're out all day, your face won't suffer from makeup overload which equals the horrifying splotches, streaks, clogged pores and super shine.

Use cream foundations and concealers while traveling since they don't require brushes. Plus, they blend into skin easier. Tinted, moisturizing foundations are perfect since they combine a few steps. Carry your concealer with you throughout the day for quick touch ups. Set your face with pressed powder.

Next, apply your eye makeup as usual. I recommend water proof mascara as it works for all travel situations. If you'll be out all day, apply concealer lightly to lids along with pressed powder before your shadow. It'll help your color stay even throughout the day. Do the same for lips for lasting lipstick no matter what brand you love best.

5 Winter Beauty Tips

Share on Twitter5 Share on Facebook2 Share on Pinterest1 Share on Google +11

top5winterbeautytips

Even if you love a winter wonderland, your skin may not. The chilly, dry air and shorter days can bring on a dry, dull complexion. In my job as a celebrity makeup artist, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help you appear glowing all year long.

The secret is having the right products to create the perfect look. Here are the five that I swear by:

1. A healing ointment. A tube of Aquaphor does triple-duty against chapped skin. I always have a tube on hand to soothe dry lips, hydrate rough patches of skin and soften cuticles. It especially works wonders if you apply it before bedtime. I always have a tube on hand.

2. Tinted moisturizer. Many women make the mistake of reaching for a heavier cover-up during the winter, believing that their pale complexions need extra coverage. But this can lead to a caked-on look. Instead, I recommend a light tinted moisturizer: It hydrates and brightens at the same. The result: Dewy skin that stands out in the crowd. Simply use a shade or two lighter than your summer color, and apply with a sponge brush. Then pat off any excess product with a tissue.

RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS:

3. Exfoliating scrub. To achieve fresh-looking skin, you need to slough off the top layer of dead cells. That’s why I recommend using a gentle exfoliating scrub once or twice a week; a drugstore brand, such as Aveeno or Neutrogena, does the job. Just don’t go overboard. Exfoliate too much, and you’ll strip the skin of its protective oils.

4. Bronzing lotion. Who needs the sun for a sun-kissed tan? I love applying a sheer, shimmering bronzing lotion before a holiday party or event. I like Scott Barnes Body Bling Moisturizing Shimmering Body Lotion, which gives you a glowing tan without any streakiness. Simply rub on your neck, chest, arms and legs before heading out, and wash off when you get home. Just remember to wipe your palms with a tissue after application.

AmLactin Lotion for Severely Dry Skin

amlactinlotion

There's dry skin and then there's severely dry skin. Regular lotion is normally enough to handle the former, but you need something a little tougher to tackle severe or chronically dry, flaky skin. AmLactin's line of body lotions are designed to give you soft, smooth skin at any age. I love that their lotions go beyond basic hydration and actually encourage healthier looking skin as well.

Usually you only see alpha-hydroxy acid in facial creams, but AmLactin brings the exfoliating benefits of AHA to your body. If you've ever used AHA creams on your face, you know exactly how much of a difference this one powerful ingredient makes in the look and feel of your skin. All three of their body formulas and even their foot cream includes AHA to rid your skin of dead skin cells, while their unique formula locks in moisture for the smoothest skin you've had since you were born.

For general, everyday moisturization, try the AmLactin Moisturizing Body Lotion. With 12% lactic acid, rough, dry skin is smoothed away and the skin underneath nourished like never before. For a deeper, restorative lotion, try the Ultra Hydrating Body Cream or Cerapeutic Restoring Body Lotion. I personally love the latter if you have severely dry skin. Of course, don't forget to moisturize those dry, cracked heels with the AmLactin Foot Cream.

The formula is unlike other body lotions and your skin will thank you for it. The lotions start at just $15.99 which is actually less than expensive high end lotions which only work half as well. Plus it's cheaper than slathering on layer after layer of lotions and creams that don't work at all!

Easy Summer Beauty with Walgreens!

easysummerbeauty

The summer time can be one of the hardest seasons to get a gorgeous makeup look. Battling the heat, humidity, and *eeek* sweat, you have a plethora of barriers keeping you from being a fresh faced goddess. Never fear my beauty friends! Walgreens has enlisted me to help you put together a simple and stunning Summer beauty look that will keep you protected, and keep your makeup melt-proof.

First things first…sun protection! I like to have two options on hand. I start off with a lotion (which is my preferred method for protecting my face) and then keep a spray on hand for touch ups throughout the day. My current favorites are Hawaiian Tropic Sunscreen for my initial boost of protection and hydration. Next, I make sure to keep my Banana Boat Sun Spray in my purse for all day spritzing and protection. It is super easy to spray on the go, and it instantly absorbs into the skin. Love!

Next, I make sure to use a BBCream on my face for a clean and natural coverage that doesn’t cake or fade during the summer heat. Keep the rest of the face simple! During the summer, all you need is a punch of color on the lips to give your face a radiant boost. Due to the heat, your cheeks will have a natural flush, so keep it clean with a long lasting lip such as Revlon Moisture Stain lip stain in Barcelona Nights. The color is amazing on all skin tones, lasts through the worst of humidity issues, and can even be used on the cheeks if you want an extra punch of sheer color. This will be your new summer must have.

Finish off your look with a few coats of mascara. My current favorite is Maybelline Pumped up! Mascara. This mascara gives you the look of false lashes, and allows you to keep your eye look minimal. The glorious, black lashes are all you need!

Last, but not least, finish off your summer look with a bright nail color. My go to for summer is the Revlon Gel Envy in Hot Hand (don’t you just looove the name!). The coral-pink color looks amazing with my flip flops and brightens up my look. It screams “summer is here”. Find a bright, cheerful color, and rock that pedicure my friends!

There you have it! A simple, clean and easy summer look that will keep you protected and makeup meltdown free. Enjoy!

4thofjulybeauty

The 4th of July weekend is filled with BBQ, pool parties, and celebrations galore.  Mike and I consider it a wonderful date weekend filled with family and friends. During this weekend I make sure to have an easy beauty and skincare supply on hand. I want my look to have a fresh, gorgeous summer date night glow. I always make sure I am wearing my waterproof makeup, protecting my hair, and keeping my skin sun safe with a good SPF.

So, I happy to share with you my latest 4th of July weekend kit! Here is my breakdown:

FACE: You want to start with moisturized, clean skin. I am currently in love with Olay Fresh Effects Dew Over hydrating gel moisturizer and Makeup Remover Wipes. They are cooling, light on the skin and perfect for summer and under your makeup. No meltdown! Next, I like to use a light foundation that gives some coverage, and continues to moisturize.

EYES and LIPS: Waterproof mascara is a must, and the new CoverGirl Bombshell mascara has become a favorite for deep, black lashes that pop! If you need an extra bit of drama, than add CoverGirl Ink liner in black to the base of your upper lash line for a subtle summer look.  Think Audrey Hepburn! To finish off the look, add a pop of soft pink lipgloss. The current favorite is CoverGirl Colorlicious

HAIR: Don't forget to care for your strands this weekend, especially if you are are at the beach or pool. The chlorine and sea water can wreck havoc on your hair! I apply Pantene Rehab Cream to my hair before I go out in the sun to make sure my hair is protected and to give it an ultra boost of hydration.
