Quick and Easy Tips: Take the “Time” Out of Timeless Beauty!

In the world of “I needed that yesterday”, it helps if a lady can cut down on her primping time without sacrificing great face. Thankfully, cosmetic companies everywhere have felt our pain and created a plethora of products to suffice. Here are our top five favorites!

• Nars ~ The Multiple. Not only are these colors gorgeous on nearly every skin tone, but this gem packs a double punch by being the go to item for both cheeks and lips.

Stila ~ Convertible Eye Color. Gone are the days of searching through your beauty drawer for eye shadow, liner, and the tools to perform the magic. This multitasker has eyeliner on one end, a tool for smudging and blending on the other end, and a coordinated eye shadow color inside.

RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS:

Guerlain ~ Le 2 de Guerlain Mascara. Most mascaras promise volume OR length but let’s face it, the average girl needs it all! Instead of wasting money on two different mascaras, this one comes with one formula and two brushes. One brush has long bristles for length and basic volume, the other with small bristles for tackling hard to reach spots like corners and bottom lashes to create depth.

Garnier Fructis ~ Miracle Dry Oil. Ever wish you could use just one lotion or moisturizer for your face, body, and hair? Wish granted! Made from olive and avocado extracts, this oil is light enough to use on the face but still has enough moisture muscle to tackle dry, frizzy hair.

Sally Hansen ~ Complete Salon Manicure. While a salon manicure always looks amazing, who really has the time? This polish has a base coat, color, and top coat all built into one time saving bottle.

Beauty Bag Essentials

Beauty Bag Essentials

As a woman and self proclaimed makeup addict, I of course have drawers full of goodies at my house; however, when traveling or simply heading out for the day, my collection of necessities has to be limited. I do love to change up my eye color on occasion and even shades of blush and lipstick, but for my everyday look and every day needs, here are my top beauty recommendations.

Dr. Jart+ Beauty Balm
Admittedly, I rarely use a regular foundation. I hate how heavy they feel and how the seem to seep into my fine lines and wrinkles. For a while, I used to only use a concealer; however, as time started to march across my face leaving behind sun damage and wrinkles, I decided to step up my coverage a bit. This beauty balm has multiple benefits; it perfects and protects the skin, contains anti-aging properties and has an SPF 45. So, on days when I’m I a rush, this one product serves as a moisturizer, sunscreen, ant-aging serum and foundation all in one shot.

bareMinerals Mineral Veil
This loose powder is the mac daddy of powders. It’s light enough to use on dry skin but still keeps shine away on oily skin. Mostly I love it because every time I apply it, it gives my skin a gorgeous airbrushed look with just a tiny dusting. Another reason I love this powder is the fact that aside from super hot and humid days, one application typically lasts me all day long… even my T-zone area!

bareMinerals Ready Bronzer
Much like the mineral veil, a little of this product goes a long way. This bronzer gives my skin a much-needed J-lo type glow without the sparkly afterglow. The gorgeous bronzer also contains SeaNutrive Mineral complex to help fight the signs of aging.

Make Up Forever HD Blush in Coral
This is by far my favorite blush and I go on record to say it’s worth every single penny! The creamy formula can be applied with fingertips or a brush, and instead of sitting on your skin like most blushes, it sinks in, leaving behind nothing but a gorgeous glow! The coral color is buildable and perfect for giving a healthy flush any time of year. This is another product that once in place, seems to last me all day long without needing to be reapplied.

RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS:

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
I love my mascara. In my opinion, eyelashes are the number one item to creating a beautiful face and this mascara gives some serious bang for the buck. Not only does it create length, it also adds definition, separation and serious volume without needing multiple coats to get the job done. At less than $10.00 a tube, I say fill up on this awesome product ASAP!

Maybelline The Nudes Eye Shadow Palette
As I mentioned, I do occasionally like to mix up my eye shadow shades. That being said, for my everyday look, this is my all time favorite palette. The shades range from light taupe and pinkish pearl colors to golden bronzy shades. There’s even a smoky black color for those nights when you need a little extra drama. The colors are very pigmented, requiring very little to get the job done and are extremely long lasting, even in high humidity. While I may switch off on what colors I apply every day, I rarely leave town without this palette in my bag.

Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner
Another great product from Maybelline, this liner gives amazing color and drama and is totally smudge resistant. Whether I need a bold line for a hot, smokey eye or a thinner line for the workday, I can always count on this eyeliner to give me exactly the look I was hoping for.

EOS Lip Balm
I’m not sure if it’s the fun and convenient shape, the delicious flavors or the long-lasting moisture that keeps me stocking up on this product, but I rarely leave home without at least two of them in my bag. I used to be a Burt’s Bees girl, but after being introduced to these yummy lip treatments by a co-worker, I have to say I may just be sold for life!

So remember, while venturing out of your beauty comfort zone is always a trip worth taking, it’s never a bad idea to keep an arsenal of favorites nearby. The new and trendy products may keep you looking fashionable, but the classics will forever keep you looking beautiful.

Natural Looking Makeup!

Many summer looks might be packed with bright and crazy colors but there is something to be said for the minimalist. Whether it’s a picnic at the park or a romantic date night, the naked look is the perfect match for the hot summer ahead. This look is soft, sensual, natural, and easy to pull off with the right tools. Follow these steps and go naked tonight!

FACE:
Because you are going for a “natural beauty” look here, the face should be flawless. This look requires something lighter than the average foundation but with more coverage than a BB crème. The Naked Skin foundation by Urban Decay is the perfect tool for flawless skin. It provides optimal coverage but is infused with light making it look less like makeup and more like gorgeous skin.
To piggy back on that gorgeous glow you’ve started with foundation, try adding a highlighter like Candlelight Glow from Too Faced. Applying the highlighter to cheeks bones, nose, temples, and inner corners of the eyes makes the skin look luminous and flawless in any light.

CHEEKS:
While the general rule of thumb with the nude look is to stick with neutral colors, adding a slight pop of color to cheeks keeps your complexion from looking sickly or washed out. Apply NARS blush in Orgasm to apples of cheeks for the perfect complement to the naked background.

EYES:
The eyes in this look are very natural. No dark smoky looks or heavy liner. Simply apply a shade of brown, gold, or bronze to the eye (or layer a few colors if you desire a bolder affect). We love the warm shades in Urban Decay’s Naked 2 palette. Next skip the liner and focus on the lashes. No need for heavy black mascara either. Simply apply 2-3 coats of a dark brown like the black/brown shade from Neutrogena Healthy Lengths and voila… your naked eye is complete.

LIPS:
Much like the cheeks, you’re looking for just a pop of color here. Keeping lips too nude will make you look like a corpse, and adding too much color will eradicate the whole point of the nude face. Choose a gloss in a shade of pink close to natural lips like NARS Space NK lip gloss in Sweet Revenge and your nude face is ready to bare to the world!

Four Sizzling Looks For Date Night

Share on Twitter8 Share on Facebook7 Share on Pinterest0 Share on Google +11

date night looks

What better way to heat up your date night than with one of these super seductive looks? Whether you prefer a more demure, innocent face or want to get his blood boiling by going full-on fierce, one of these looks will be sure to please and lead to an unforgettable encounter!

Romance Him in Red!
There is no hotter look that screams seduction quite like the red lip. Pair that powerful pout with a smokey eye and loads of lashes, and he’ll be eating from the palm of your hand. For this look, start with a taupe shade of shadow applied all over the lid, then layer on a cocoa brown. Follow up with a thick line of liner on both top lid and bottom water line, and gently smudge. For lashes this lush, you’ll want to either enlist the help of a few falsies or reach for your favorite fiber lengthening mascara; 2-3 coats should do the trick. Next, line lips with a red pencil, one that’s slightly darker than your lipstick and smudge it toward the center of the lip. Finally, using a lip brush, blend in the red lip color.

Be Pretty in Pink…
If red is a bit too over-the-top for you, a sweet shade of pink may be just your style. To keep the look light and innocent, the eyes will be a bit more 'Old Hollywood' glam than smokey seductress. Use a silvery-gray shade of shadow with a touch of sparkle and apply to the lids and under the bottom lash line. Next, using a black, liquid liner, draw a thick line on the upper lash line, winging it out at the corners. Now, use a black gel liner to line the bottom waterline. Finish with several coats of black, lengthening mascara on top and bottom lashes. For the lips, line with a light to medium pink liner and finish with a pale pink, semi-matte lipstick.

RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS:

 Go Nude for the Night!

Okay, maybe not literally but at least your lips. This look is for the drama seeker who prefers to have the attention focused on her eyes. First, apply a dark, chocolate shadow to the lid almost to the brow bone. Then, use a black, sparkly shadow to shade the sockets of the eyes, extending at the corners. Next, use a black, matte shadow from about mid point of the sockets to the outer corners to deepen the drama of the look. Line the top lash line and bottom waterline with a black, gel liner and finish the eyes with a full set of false lashes and several coats of black mascara. For the lips, first line with a nude liner and finish the look by applying a matte, nude lipstick.

Get Him Going in Hot Pink…
If you require some serious color on your lips and seek a flirty eye, than look no further. For the eyes, use a light pink, matte shadow to color the lids up just above the sockets. Next, use a sparkly, white shadow and lightly color the inner tear ducks. Now, using a black, liquid liner, draw a thick line on the upper lash line only, winging the liner at the corners. Finish the eyes with several coats of black, lengthening mascara on both top and bottom lashes. For the lips, line with a bright pink liner and finish with a hot pink, glossy lip shade.

No matter which of these four fabulous looks you choose, you’ll be certain to set his heart on fire!

Makeup Tips For Travel

Makeup Tips for Travel – Pack Light, Apply Light

The key to perfect travel makeup is go light. Think of travel like exercise. Travel wears out makeup quickly if you cake it on. Trust me. You don't want your lasting memories to be splotchy pictures and acne from clogged pores. I have two main rules for my makeup when traveling – pack lightly and apply lightly. You really can't go wrong if you stick to these rules.

You Don't Need It All

No matter where you're going or how long you'll be gone, you won't need your entire makeup case. Only take the essentials plus a few extra lipsticks and eye shadows. If you really need something, odds are there will be a store nearby. Everything you need should fit inside a small clutch sized makeup bag. I do suggest using a cushioned bag to prevent any pressed powders from cracking or glass bottles from breaking.

My advice is to only pack a single foundation, concealer, pressed powder and mascara. If you don't already have an eye shadow compact with several of your favorite shades, go shopping now. Instead of several compacts, you'll only need to carry one to have day and night time colors. For lips, pack a moisturizing lipstick in at least two shades. Try to avoid glosses if you plan on taking lots of pictures, otherwise you're lips will be positively glowing and not in the good way. Now you see what I mean by pack light.

Apply Lightly

When it comes to makeup, more is bad unless you're performing on stage. I doubt you're on your way to headline a Broadway show, so remember to apply makeup lightly. Not only will the process be faster, but when you're out all day, your face won't suffer from makeup overload which equals the horrifying splotches, streaks, clogged pores and super shine.

Use cream foundations and concealers while traveling since they don't require brushes. Plus, they blend into skin easier. Tinted, moisturizing foundations are perfect since they combine a few steps. Carry your concealer with you throughout the day for quick touch ups. Set your face with pressed powder.

Next, apply your eye makeup as usual. I recommend water proof mascara as it works for all travel situations. If you'll be out all day, apply concealer lightly to lids along with pressed powder before your shadow. It'll help your color stay even throughout the day. Do the same for lips for lasting lipstick no matter what brand you love best.
