Tips for Choosing a Fitness Spa

5 6 0 1

Today’s post comes from Carleen at Beauty and Fashion Tech, a beauty blog with an eye for technology, and Just For Trendy Girls, which is an international style blog. Fitness spas present a hybrid of service been at both fitness centers and day spas. While each are in business for a specific clientele that can often overlap, it was not until recently that the two business types began combining their services to increase efficiency and maximize their reach within the marketplace. Now, fitness spas are cropping up in many areas. Here is how to decide if one is right for you. fitness center

When choosing a fitness spa membership, consider the following:

Hours Availability of the fitness center as well as spa services is a key component to look for when choosing a fitness spa. With the hectic schedules people keep, it is important to know if there will be access to the membership benefits when you need them. In many instances, some fitness spas are open from 4a to midnight or even 24/7, making themselves available to their members whenever they need it most. It is also important to note with some of these extended hours, some of the spa services may not be available. Do you want a massage at 6am? Be sure to find out if it is offered. Keeping this in mind will help in the decision making process.

Equipment and Services By definition, a fitness spa is a place offering the resources of a standard gym partnered with a number of different services one might find at a spa. In essence, one could come in for their daily workout regiment and then workout their sore muscles with a massage or a foot rub. So, you obviously want to be sure that the specific services that you want are offered. For example, if you like deep tissue massage after a strenuous workout, be sure to find out if that is regularly offered and that it is offered at the time that you will likely be there. Likewise, some spas may offer more in terms of baths and saunas. Also be sure to check out the gym equipment and make sure that everything that you want is offered. Do you like classes? Make sure that the location offers what you want.

The Breakthrough Rebel  by Sian Bitner Kearney

In the world of comedy, women are truly making their mark and there is no comedic actress more on spot than Rebel Wilson. From her quirky role as the oddest half of a brother and sister duo in Bridesmaids, to her hilariously honest and slightly inappropriate portrayal of “Fat Amy” in Pitch Perfect, Wilson recently topped it off with a cherry as this year’s host of the Mtv Movie Awards.

While Wilson may have been a bit over the top with a few wardrobe choices, her unique ability to comfort her audience and keep them engaged with consistent humor, led to a 40% increase in ratings, as well as an award win for Rebel for “Best Breakthrough Performance”.

Wilson’s style may venture beyond the norm leading her from ensembles such as leather cat suits and 80’s style track jackets to lady like dresses and sweaters, but one thing is undeniable; Rebel refuses to be anything more or less than who she is and she could care less about public scrutiny. Beauty wise, she rocks her circa 1960’s style of gorgeous blonde hair with full bangs, smoky eyes, a nude lip, and porcelain skin.

To recreate Rebel’s signature look, try these tips:

  • Always start with a great primer like Smashbox Photo Finish Primer to keep makeup fresh
  • Next apply your foundation. We love Makeup Forever HD Invisible Cover Foundation for a flawless airbrushed look and set the look with a light powder like Makeup Forever HD Microfinish Powder
  • Next, apply a liquid or gel liner to the upper lid only. We like Bobbi Brown Long wear Gel Liner. Top this with several coats of black, lengthening mascara like Benefit’s “They’re Real” Mascara
  • With a soft, fluffy brush, apply a pink or peach blush to the apples of the cheeks. For a shade that suits nearly every skin tone, we love NARS in the shade Orgasm!
  • Finally, top the look with a feminine pink or peach lip gloss. Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish in the shade Amber give just the right amount of color and shine.

Rebel Wilson is synonymous with confidence, always allowing her personality, not the Hollywood norm, to dictate her fashion and beauty choices. Her ability to embrace and even flaunt her so called flaws serves as an example to women of all ages that beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder, and the only beholder who matters is YOU! For her sense of style, her self confidence, and her amazing sense of humor we say, rock on Rebel…Rock on!

Trend for Spring: Pink Eyeshadow

5 0 0 1

For the past few months, I have had the thrill of mentoring an aspiring beauty writer and makeup artist, Ms. Emily Guzman. She not only has been one of the hardest working gals I know, but has an amazing talent at finding out the newest trends. In the next few weeks it is my pleasure to share her articles with you as a guest writer. You can check out her first post for me here. I hope you enjoy her take on the newest trends as much as I do. Enjoy! xoxo

The New Take on Pink Shadow: By Emily Gusman

Spring brings everyone a beauty breath of fresh air in the form of new spring trends. One trend in particular was a bit questioning due to the color choice. This trend brings color back into your eyes by using a very vibrant color. The blush “halo” trend uses a girly eye shadow color that is in Barbie’s favorite color, pink. Her trendsetter staple color can easily become your favorite way to wear pink that combines an edgy application with a soft and feminine hue. To recreate this look, sweep any coral pink eye shadow along the lower lashes and keep the rest of the face natural looking.

What do you think?? Is this a trend you will be wearing?

Corrective makeup - The Hooded Eye by Kim Greene:

"I happen to have hooded eyes. I used to be ok with them but as I've gotten older they really make me look tired. And you should see them after a 15 hour day! My eyes look closed, even when they're not. Ok, I'm being dramatic but bottom line is I'm very familiar with this specific corrective makeup.

Kevin James Bennett Interview and Pop Up Shop!

0 0 0 1

As I have said many times before, when Kevin James Bennett suggests I go out and get a product, I listen.  Most recently, Kevin, the "MacGyver of Makeup", opened up his own pop up shop on OpenSky.com.  Below, he answers my questions, and shares his best information.  Enjoy!

1) How can an everyday woman interpret the latest trends from Fashion Week.
You don't have to "copy" a runway look to get in on the trend. Pick one makeup element that resonated with you. It could be eyes, lip color, even blush or bronzer placement. Layer that single element into your normal makeup routine and give it test drive. If you love it, make it your signature style for the season. Hate it - it's only makeup, wash it off and try a new feature.
