As of March 2013, all posts will contain the following buttons in compliance with the new FTC guidelines, and for full transparency:
Press Sample: This means that the post may contain products that I have received for consideration to review on the blog. The compensation of product received will never influence the content, topics or posts made in this blog.
Purchased: To distinguish from posts that feature a product submitted by a brand for consideration, I also have a button for when I have purchased the item myself.
Affiliate Links: The majority of links to third-party retail websites are affiliate links via Reward Style, Skim Links, or Shopsense. I only receive commission if you purchase the product through the link. It does not add any cost to you as the customer. The commission comes out of the retailer’s pocket, and the commission can range from as little as 1% to as much as 10% depending on the retailer, campaign, product type, etc. For many of our affiliates, if a product is returned, the commission is returned as well. These costs help to keep the website running.
Sponsored post: Sponsored posts are specific posts that I have been compensated for. I do not endorse or otherwise review products for compensation, but you will see topical content, giveaways, or advertorials.
The Makeup Blogger provides content, for general information purposes only. I do not sell or represent any product line. As a professional makeup artist, I regularly receive products directly from beauty brands, beauty manufacturers, public relations companies, and brand marketing firms. In addition, as a beauty editor I am regularly invited into salons, spas, makeup boutiques and other beauty events to meet experts and try out new services. These products/services are graciously submitted/offered for editorial consideration on The Makeup Blogger, or for consideration to be used in my professional kit. Complimentary services, gratis products, and press samples never compromise my posts, or influence my reviews. If I have a bad experience or do not like the product result, the product or service will not receive coverage on the pages of The Makeup Blogger. As the Editor of this site, and as a professional makeup artist, I consistently work with and try out new hair, makeup, skincare, and nail product submissions for my editorial and artistry work. Many times, my process involves the careful examination of texture, effectiveness, wearability, color payoff, scent, value, packaging, etc. While many of the products and services mentioned in reviews have been submitted for editorial consideration, many of them are from my personal collection and are items/services that I have purchased and use on a regular basis, both in my personal and professional life.
