The Perfect Touch Up Kit

Last week I had the pleasure of working the Warner Brothers VIP tent for ComicCon 2013.  I was on hand to do makeup touch ups for the stars before they went in for their photo shoots.  Most of the time we had less than 5 min to get them prepped and ready! The main issue for many of them was the extreme heat, and makeup meltdown.  That is why I relied on the 5 products below to make their makeup look natural, and ensure that it stayed on all day!

1) Oralne Highlighter: This product is the perfect peach highlighter that can be applied directly over your existing makeup. I used this to perk up tired eyes, and give their concealer a new pop! This is eight hours of sleep in a little pen.

2) Make Up For Ever HD Concealer: When they needed more coverage, I mixed two different HD concealers (based on their skincolor). The key is to mix a lighter pink or salmon color with a concealer that matches their skintone.

3) Face Atelier Lip Gloss: I relied on three colors; Peach, Dianthus, and Shiraz. Mix, match, and play! These colors got the most "oohs and ahhs" from every celebrity I put them on.

4) Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in Taupe: This color looked amazing as a touch up placed in the center of the eyelid.  It gave new life to their existing eyeshadows that were fading or smearing due to the heat. The soft shimmer looks amazing on every skintone and eyecolor, and is the perfect no fail color.

5) Urban Decay Mushroom 24 Hour Pencil:  If I had more time, and needed to do a smoker eye look, I grabbed for this pencil.  The shimmery grey-taupe is a sexy and subtle color that makes a great smokey eye alternative for the daytime.  And it is waterproof, so no worries about smudging!

Friday top5 sunscreen

So, I have to admit that during summer and sunscreen, I have always been a Neutrogena gal. The 110 SPF... a must for a extremely pale Scottish lass like myself. I also have become addicted to the Wet Skin spray, since lathering on cream over my newly cooled off pool soaked skin drives me crazy.  But, there have been some new additions to my list and I have included them above.  Loving the good for your skin Kiehls SPF, the perfect for your face Ultra Light La Roche-Posay and the "cool zone" SPF spray for hot days by the pool.

1) Neutrogena Ultra Sheer

2) Kiehls Activated Sun Protection

3) Neutrogena Wet Skin

4) La Roche-Posey Anthelious Ultra Light

5) Banana Boat Sport: CoolZone

While I admit to being someone who is somewhat afraid of the fake tan (I have very traumatic oompa loompa experiences!), I have learned over the years how to make it work on my fair skin.  It takes a great product like Beautisol, and an arsenal of prepping products, mistake fixers, and more.  Here is the list of my 5 must have's when I go in for the fake glow.

1) Xen-Tan 'Hard to Reach' Applicator:   This is a god send. When you can't find a friend or a boyfriend to help apply your fake tan on the dreaded back area, than reach for this magic wand.  Place your product directly onto the back applicator and apply...it really is that easy! Why didn't anyone think of this sooner?

2) Adventuress Sunscreen Swipes: the one thing I am guilty of is forgetting to remember to put on my sunscreen after I tan. Keeping these handy wipes in my purse not only makes it easy to get protection on the go, but it ensures that your fake tan will be protected as well.  Brilliant!

3) St. Tropez Tan Remover: Who among us hasn't had a self tanning mishap? I know that I have had my fair share of streaks, and over-tanned elbows. This tan remover has been made by St. Tropez, which is one of the authorities in self tanning. This was designed to prevent hands and palms from becoming stained while correcting tanning mistakes! Just apply with water to the palms of the hands after applying the self tan.

4) Beautisol Prep & Glow System: Medium Mousse Formula:  My current self tanner of choice. And, they make it ridiculously easy with this kit to get the perfect glow. This kit comes with an exfoliating mitt for your pre-tan prep, and an application mitt which makes applying your moose bronzer a breeze.  I personally don't know how I ever lived without the application mitt.  It makes the tan look flawless. Another bonus? The moose dries quickly, so no gooey or messy wait time like most self tanners. Love!

5) Prtty Peaushun:  Are you rocking your fake tan for a night out on the town? Than this lotion is an absolute must.  I use it on all my clients as a finishing touch to make their skin look sexy and glowing.  You can also use it on your face as a highlighter, and to enhance your Beautisol tan.  Created by Celebrity Makeup Artist, Bethany Karlyn, this lotion has subtle light reflecting particles in a natural emollient base.  It also conceals minor imperfections and enhances definition to create a sexy legs and diminish the appearance of cellulite stretch marks and varicose veins as well as minimizing bruising and sore muscles.

Beautysets neutrogena Neutrogena Make up Remover Cleansing Towelettes Refill 33241 1367617727

Almost every woman I know complains about having to remove their makeup at the end of the night. It is the last thing you want to worry about when you are exhausted from a long day, and just want to crash your head on the pillow. That is why I have always been obsessed with makeup remover wipes. Super easy and effective, they make makeup remover a snap! Here are my favorites.

1)Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes Refill Pack:
Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes are gentle, ultra soft cloths that have been my nighttime staples for years. Years! I buy them in bulk at Costco...so much that now Mike even knows where to pick them up when I am not with them. They gently dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and make-up and it is so effective it easily removes waterproof mascara. It leaves my skin feeling super soft, and is perfect when I am too tired to remove my makeup with my normal cleanser

2) Yes to Cucumbers Hypoallergenic Facial Towelettes:
These wipes are ridiculously refreshing and use aloe vera to cleanse, remove makeup, and nourish skin...all in one swipe! Not only do these Yes To Cucumbers™ Facial Towelettes provide a spectacularly gentle clean, they are also: Hypoallergenic, Non-Comedogenic, Oil-Free Enriched with natural aloe vera & green tea. They are also made with biodegradable, natural cloth: FSC Fabric.  During the hot months of summer I keep these in the fridge for a mid day sweat removing swipe!

3)Eco-Beauty® Waterproof Makeup Remover Wipes:
I count on these wipes for when I have just come home from an event where I have my full makeup face on.  I mean waterproof and long-wearing makeup madness. These lavender-scented cleansing wipes break down and whisk away even the toughest waterproof formulas. With every swipe, eyes and lips get refreshed and nourished with a luscious six-oil blend of olive, jojoba, sesame, grapeseed, vitamin E and lavender. Perfection!

4)Almay Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover Pads:  another necessity when I have on alot of eye makeup and want it off fast! This wipes liquid liner, or any type of heavy duty makeup off in a jiffy, and leaves your eyes moisturized and feeling refreshed.  Great for sensitive eyes, and also comes in an oil free version as well!

5)MAC Wipes: Most makeup artists I know swear by these, and keep them in their makeup kit for on the go cleansing. Oversized, luxurious, super-saturated with special MAC cleanser and infused with protective vitamin E. Extremely refreshing. Totally addictive. Slickly packed, re-sealable, ready to go!

1) NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil Frivolous: I currently have two of these pencils in my purse, and love layering them and feeling how soft and buttery they are in my lips. The other bonus is that the staying power is amazing. They last and last. Makeup Artist Tip: Use these lovely pencils as a cheek stain as well!

2) CoverGirl Lip Perfection: For those of you that love a sheer stain, and a budget friendly find, than look no further.  The colors are luscious and smooth and hydrate the lips with a soft veil of color.  If you are scarred of darker colors, this might be a great way to try out a deep red that is sheer and easy to get used to.

3) Buxom Lip Pencil: This tints like a stain, shines like a gloss, moisturizes like a balm, and plumps like nobody's business. A built-in sharpener makes this perfect for on the go or travel touch ups.  Definitely a lot of color impact.

Friday Top 5- Best Body Lotions and Oils

Share on Twitter5 Share on Facebook0 Share on Pinterest0 Share on Google +11

1) Dial 7 Day Moisturizing Lotion:  I have been playing with this lotion for about three weeks, and am in love with the lightness of it! It literally sinks right into the skin, but leaves it soft and has a very soft floral scent that is not overpowering in any way! This has over 84 minerals in it to give your skin a boost of nourishment.

2) Johnson's Baby Oil Body Wash: I have had this in my arsenal forever. Another staple that leaves my skin baby smooth, with very little "greesy" after feel. It is one of my favorite post shaving leg savors. The benefits of an oil in a lotion form? Yes, please!

3) RODIN Olio Lusso Body Oil:  This is for those special pampering moments when you want to feel luxurious. Using the same fragrant 11 essential oils as the Face olio lusso, RODIN body oil is the only moisturiser you will ever need. The oils are mixed in a different proportion than the face oil to create a silky, luxurious oil for the body.

4) Kiehls Creme de Corps: A light-weight version of the classic body moisturizer with added UV protection. This is packed with skin-soothing ingredients and emollient oils. Absorbs quickly and instantly soothes and conditions skin for a lovely, silky feel with “dress-and-go” convenience....which you know is my deal breaker!  I use this when the weather is dry and nasty.

5) Eight Body Lotion and Dry Brush:  The lotion that converted my father and my boyfriend!  They both have stolen this bottle of uber moisturizing goodness from me.  It is intense and amazing.  A recipe passed down from generations, and owned by an incredible woman.  I feel amazing every time we use this. Dry brushing is such a perfect way to exfoliate and rejuvenate your body. Perfection for your at home spa day.
