New York Fashion Week Live Streaming

0 0 0 1

This week is finishing up for me, as I jump on a plane back to California tomorrow.  But, since I can no longer be at the shows, I can still watch them via Live Streaming from Glam.  I must be honest, sometimes watching the shows from the comfort of your computer or television is better than battling it out with a feisty fashionista for a seat.

I hope you enjoy the shows as much as I did!

Bobbi Brown for Holmes&Yang #NYFW 2013

2 0 2 1

Bobbi Brown is one of the makeup lines that I often recommend to my clients, because of it’s simplicity and ease of use.  I have never found a color, or palette that doesn’t compliment the person in my chair, or make them feel beautiful (without feeling overly made up).  For this week’s New York Fashion Week, Bobbi Brown worked with her new celebrity face, Katie Holmes for her Holmes & Yang Fall Fashion Show.

NARS Makeup for #NYFW at Carmen Marc Valvo

NARS created the look for today’s Carmen Marc Valvo runway show. Please find more information below and attached images for your reference.

SHOW: Carmen Marc Valvo

LEAD ARTIST: James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry

LOOK: “The collection is baroque with a punk edge, so we wanted the makeup to have that same feeling,” says Boehmer. “The eyeliner is a reference to a classic eyeline, but with a punk spirit, so it’s not perfect, not delicate. The skin is very luminous; we talked about the girls looking slightly haunted, but in a pretty way.”

La Perla Moani Lee working on model

I am so excited to share the  beauty looks created by makeup artist Moani Lee for Hourglass at the La Perla fall 2013 presentation. The collection, which featured lace, tulle and silk designs, embodies elegance, sensuality and romance. La Perla designer Giovanni Bianchi looked to Spain for inspiration, specifically the moody color palette of painter Francisco Goya, and the embellished livery of bullfighters.  “I wanted to capture the sensuality and the strength of the woman wearing this decadent lingerie,” says Lee, who focused on elegant brows, radiant skin and dramatic lips worthy of an Almodóvar heroine.

The looks below are stunning, and are easily transferable to everyday life. I can honestly say the Hourglass cosmetics is one of my favorite lines, and I will be recreating these looks on myself.

For La Perla’s Black Label collection, which referenced mysterious themes including erotic art and surrealism, Lee switched the focus from the lips to the eyes. “The second look is a fresh take on the classic smoky eye, featuring a blend of black and brown kohl liner,” she says. “There are no harsh lines, it’s a softer interpretation that showcases beautiful, almond-shaped eyes.” The nude color on lips is a preview of Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo, a collection of sophisticated neutral lipsticks to be released in the fall.

Lee has a mixmaster approach to makeup: To imbue skin with a multi-dimensional luminescence, she combined three different shades of Hourglass foundation, concealer, and finishing powder. As for the scene-stealing scarlet lip, she blended two shades of Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick. “It was one part Icon and three parts Raven,” she says. “The mixture of blue red and orange red makes for an opulent and regal fall statement that even Goya himself might have appreciated.”

SKIN: Prep with Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum to create a seamless canvas for makeup. Follow with Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup in three shades: Porcelain, Ivory and Honey. “I use the deepest shade to contour, the lightest shade to highlight and the matching shade for the rest of the skin,” says Lee. Repeat the process with Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer in three shades: Hidden, Fair and Tan. Finish up with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in three shades: Radiant (golden beige), Dim (neutral beige) and Luminous (champagne pearl). “Blending the three powders creates an exceptional glow. You can literally become your own lighting technician.”

EYES: Augment brows with Hourglass Arch Sculpting Brow Pencil in Soft Brunette. Next, line the eyes with Hourglass Film Noir Kohl Eye Pencil in Espresso, and apply the mauve shimmer shade from Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Exhibition to the lids. “To create a watery effect, I like to dampen my brush with a little No. 28 Primer Serum,” says Lee. “Unlike using water, the shadow never really dries down.” Finish with a few coats of Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara.
