Quick and Easy Office Makeup Looks

office beauty essentials

I can't tell you how many women I've seen who don't know the difference between office makeup and night out makeup. The two couldn't be further apart. When you're at the office, your look should be more toned down. The best part about office makeup is it's quick and easy to pull of stunning looks that will still make you look amazing in little time.

 RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS:

Keep It Natural

Avoid extremely bright or bold colors. Instead of focusing on your work, most people will be distracted by your makeup. Great for a night out, but not so great for ensuring people take you seriously. Stick with neutral colors such as browns, peaches, light pinks and even soft lavenders for eyes, lips and cheeks. Instead of liner, use a black/brown or brown mascara to make your eyes pop.

Use a lightweight matte foundation or tinted BB cream along with concealer. If you have dark under eye circles or redness, a brightening concealer or multi-color concealer will take care of trouble areas. Add just a light dusting of pressed powder to set your look. Avoid bronzers as they can often make you seem too glowing or tan. Trust me when I say you'll like bright eyed, professional and beautiful.

Just A Little Shimmer

If natural isn't your thing, no problem. Just by adding a little bit of shimmer to your look, you can drastically change how you look without over-doing it. Start a medium coverage concealer and finish with an all day liquid foundation with SPF. Once again, an all in one tinted moisturizer will work perfectly. Use a sponge to apply to better blend with the concealer. Set with a translucent powder with just a hint of sparkle. Your face will instantly light up without looking like a glitter bomb.

Apply a cream based shadow. Once again, choose a light or medium tone color. Dust a slightly lighter shade of a shimmer based shadow over the cream. If you really want to do more with your eyes, apply an extremely thin line of light brown, hazel or gold liner to your lower lid. Apply a lighter shade to your upper lid. Follow up with mascara.

Finally, apply just a hint of blush to cheeks. With the sparkle of your powder and eyes, you don't want to go overboard here. The entire object is a brighter face with eyes that really pop. As an added touch, use a clear gloss over your favorite pink, peach or even red lipstick. If you use red, ensure you eyes and blush are toned down.

Overall, just keep it simple. I say let your confidence shine through and you'll look great no matter what.

How to Help Heal Your Skin After Blowing Your Nose Too Much

Share on Twitter4 Share on Facebook0 Share on Pinterest0 Share on Google +11

We've all been there. I know for sure after a cold I look like Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer.  The only thing that helps me is an emollient based moisturizer, something that is made especially for eczema, dry skin, windburn or chapped skin.
  • The two that I use of choice Aquaphor or First Aid Ultra Repair Cream.
  • These two products have helped me numerous times after a wicked cold when my nose hurt so much from days and days of sniffling and sneezing. These two creams are extremely emollient thick, will not sink into the skin and will help to repair it. Their consistency, as you can see in the video above, is extremely emollient, somewhat like a Vaseline cream.
  • They leave a protective barrier around the chapped skin which is what is happening to your nose especially after a nasty cold. So remember that these two products will help to save you.

I hope this answered your question and I hope you feel better!

Makeup Tips for Winter’s Bold New Face

Share on Twitter1 Share on Facebook7 Share on Pinterest0 Share on Google +11
easywinterbeautytips

To look beautiful in the winter, you have to use a makeup strategy that’s different from the one you use in July. Sticking with summer’s bronzer just looks fake. Winter’s light is whiter and less yellow than summer light, so it’s apparent your color boost came from product rather than the sun. What’s more refreshing and modern is giving winter its own signature face.

This year, the frosty shades and tinsel-like shine of winters past are gone. Elegant matte texture has taken their place, and lips and cheeks are swept with bright pops of candy color. Yes, it’s a bold statement that can look Cirque du Soleil rather than chic if you get it wrong. Here’s how to get it right!

1. Add richer moisturizers to your skin care regimen. Those whipping winds outside and dry heating indoors can leave your skin parched and chapped. Matte foundation can catch on these dry patches, so you need to make sure your skin is plumped up and well-hydrated. Applying a thick moisturizer in the morning can add sheen to a matte face; instead, hydrate before bedtime with a luxurious extra-emollient night cream.

2. Go matte with minimal product. Yes, you need a new foundation for winter. Stick with the dewy base you used in summer and you’ll have to layer on lots of powder to dull the sheen. Instead, choose a matte textured foundation in your exact shade and apply sparingly. Set it with a light dusting of translucent powder applied with a large, loosely bristled powder brush.

3. Flatter your eyes with subtle makeup. Winter’s bold, bright look is focused on lips or cheeks. While you don’t want to overlook your eyes, you will want to enhance them with neutral makeup. First, give them a bit of a boost by applying a thin black line with a cream or liquid liner very close to the lash line. Define the crease of your lid with a neutral shade of brown or gray shadow. Apply with a crease brush in a half-moon shape. Curl your lashes, and then apply two coats of black mascara.

4. Choose between your cheeks or lips for the bold pop of color. If you have full lips with pout to spare, go for an assertive mouth. If your cheekbones are high, do an amazing blush flush. Pick only one area or you’ll look overdone. For your color choices, think flowers and fruit rather than jewels -- juicy red, rosy pink, ripe peach. Fair-skinned ladies look best in cooler pastel shades, while darker beauties should choose warm, blue-based shades.

5. If you’ve chosen your lips for that extra oomph, apply a matte lipstick straight from the tube. You’ll want to skip the liner so the look is soft. A nice bonus: Matte lipstick lasts longer than satin textures, so you won’t need to touch up for hours. Balance a bold mouth with a soft, natural blush along the cheekbone.

How to Dye Your Hair at Home

Share on Twitter1 Share on Facebook6 Share on Pinterest0 Share on Google +11

athomehaircolor

Plenty of beauty products will freshen up your look, but for busy gals, none seems quite as perfect as hair color. Unlike wrinkle creams (which can take weeks to show results) or lipstick (which wears off faster than you can reapply), dying your hair delivers shiny, more vibrant color almost instantly -- and you get to enjoy the results for weeks without any upkeep. The best part: You can do it at home.

You may think hair dying is too scary to undertake yourself, but once you learn a few tricks about choosing and applying hair color, DIY dying is a snap, says Kathleen Hui, a senior colorist at AKS Salon in New York City. Even a subtle update is all it takes to breathe new life and warmth into your look. Try these strategies for the ultimate no-fuss beauty boost:

1. Choose a demi-permanent formula.
Of all your hair-dye choices -- permanent, demi-permanent or temporary -- demi-permanent requires the least maintenance and looks the most natural. The color lasts about four to six weeks and gradually rinses out as you shampoo. That means you don’t see noticeably lighter or darker roots as your hair grows.

2. Stay within two shades of your natural color.
Depending on your hair color, the end result can look different from the box, Hui says. If you stay within one or two shades, either lighter or darker, you’ll get more predictable results and a color that looks natural on you. If you have light-brown or hazel eyes, you can look at the flecks of color in your iris: Go with a color (still within two shades) that picks up the bronze, gold or caramel hues in your eyes, and your peepers will look brighter too.

3. Color clean hair only.
Wash your hair the day or morning before you dye it. Otherwise, oil, styling products and other buildup can block the pigment from absorbing into strands, says Hui.

Springtimemakeup

As a makeup artist, I have had the pleasure of being able to experiment with all types of beauty products, from high end department store brands, to tried and true drugstore products.  I have always been baffled when people assume that drugstore beauty doesn't provide the same look as higher end product lines.  Ladies, this is simply not true!  To prove my point, I recently worked with Walgreens to create two looks using afew special products, and makeup tricks: L’Oreal Butterfly Mascara, L'Oreal Colour Riche Lip Stain, L'oreal Miracle Blur Eye Cream, and NIVEA - A Kiss of Care & Color Lip Care.

For the first look above, I wanted to keep the look clean and simple. Something that we all could do with little to no time! The main two products that make the look are deep, dark lashes by L'Oreal Butterfly mascara, and a soft peachy pink lip stain by L'oreal Colour Caresse Wet Stain in Pink Resistance. This pink is one of my absolute top picks for Spring.  And I have become obsessed with the staying power! Keep the rest of the face clean, and the eyeshadow simple by using a soft, shimmery beige.

The next look is another easy to achieve evening look using just a few products. One of my favorite tricks for a quick evening look is to find the perfect red lip, and a dark voluminous mascara.  Once again, I relied on L'Oreal Butterfly mascara to do the trick!  Before starting your makeup application, I also highly suggest using a eyeshadow primer, and the L'Oreal Miracle Blur Eye Cream is as close to perfection as you can get.  I tried this out based on a recommendation from none other than the amazing (and I mean fantabulous) Billy B. Since he perfects the faces of every movie star imaginable, I take every tip he dishes out as gold!  This eye cream helps to brighten up the eye, blur wrinkles, and allow your makeup to last.  Flawless perfection.   Add a swipe of liquid eyeliner, and your eye look is Catwoman worthy.  The final step is, of course, the red lippy.  My pick was L'Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Endless Red.  It is the perfect cool red that makes me feel glamorous. And, because it is a stain you don't have to worry about the dreaded lipstick on the teeth horror show.

*Extra Tip: When using a lip stain, always prep your lips with a lip balm to hydrate and protect.  My choice was Nivea- A kiss of care & color lip care. Not only does it give your lips a boost of moisture, but it leaves a touch of color, making it the perfect lip base.  I keep mine in purse, and have become addicted to Kiss of Sheer Berry.

by Sian Bitner Kearney:

Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you’ve probably heard of and even tried a BB (beauty balm) cream. They promise better, brighter, and more even tones skin, and are supposed to offer great coverage without the traditional heavy feel of a foundation. However, with so many on the market today, how’s a girl to choose? No worries! We have our top three picks for the best beauty balms for your money.

The issue many people have with beauty balms is shine. It contains light moisturizers to help skin glow and hyaluronic acid to heal and prevent acne and keep shine at bay.
Dr. Brandt Signature Flexitone BB Cream
This balm is perfect for those who feel their skin is suffering from a serious case of the winter blues. The coverage is not super thick, but it does provide a very luminous glow making your skin look healthier and instantly gorgeous!
Stila Stay All Day 10 in 1 Beauty Balm
If you’re looking for a little more coverage as well as an anti-aging balm, this is your go-to balm! Not only does this one stay in place all day without shine, it also contains microspheres that help to blur imperfections and smooth fine lines.
