Mindy Kaling, the incredibly talented comedian, writer and star/creator of the popular Fox sitcom, The Mindy Project rocked the red carpet with a gorgeously textured, faux-bob styled by celebrity hairstylist Christopher Naselli. Not only is Mindy one of my favorite comedians, but she screams confidence and beauty. This hairstyle was modern, and the perfect match to her stunning dress.
“I wanted to balance the strong, architectural lines of Mindy’s dress with a gorgeous, softly waved, asymmetrical style,” said Naselli. “This beautiful faux-bob with glamorous, textured waves pulled to one side framed her face perfectly.”

« I worked a small amount of René Furterer VEGETAL MOUSSE into damp hair and and gave hair a blow-out with a medium-size brush for a voluminous blowout.
« Next, on the left side I created a defined side part.
« Then I applied a small amount of René Furterer VEGETAL SCULPTING GEL to the left section, starting from the hairline to just under the left ear. After combing the hair back, I clipped hair below ear to secure into place.
« Next, I started styling the front and side sections by first taking 1-inch sections of hair towards the face and twisting it around an 1-inch barrel curling iron. Next, I sprayed each section with Oribe Heat Styling Spray to protect the hair from heat and to lock in the wave. Each section was clipped and allowed to cool.
« Then working my way around the head, I curled each section to create horizontal waves in alternating directions down to the ends of the hair. To do so, I placed horizontal sections of hair in the iron, leaving the ends out and rotating the iron once. Then I flipped the direction of the iron and created another wave below the first. Continuing this way down to the ends, I then clipped the hair and let it cool. This technique creates that soft, defined wave.
« Using a wide-tooth comb and cool air from the blow-dryer set on low to loosen and texturize the curls worked to give hair a more modern look.
« Next, I applied a small amount of René Furterer STYLING WAX to the front section to add hold and maximum shine. Then I combed the section back and pinned it just above the right temple.
