At the request of a reader, today’s Beauty Breakdown is from the runways of Victoria Secret. Want to get the Victoria’s Secret look for the holiday season? Here’s how with a behind the scenes look at hair and make up from artists such as Tom Pecheux, Orlando Pita and Yuna Park.
The show itself will be featuring Grammy® Award-winning artists Rihanna and Bruno Mars, and Justin Bieber who will perform on Tuesday, Dec. 4 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. I will be watching for the killer music, as I eat ice cream and mumble my jealousy over the model’s rocking bodies (just kidding….sort of).

Cargo Blu Ray
Everyone is constantly hearing about High Definition, and the new product launches that claim they are made for “High Definition” products. The one question I consistently get from my clients is “what does high definition mean to me, and why do I need these products”.
The easiest way to explain High Definition products is that it imparts a soft focus finish, and helps to naturally diffuse flaws by working with the light around you. It essentially gives you a flawless finish, that provides great coverage while looking completely natural.
One of my first forays into High Definition products was with Cargo High Definition Powder. I use the entire line of Cargo Blu Ray in my kit, and personally use the extra light powder for mid-day touchups, or to provide a more full coverage over my normal foundations. This powder is magic. It imparts a full, yet natural coverage, and evens out any skin tone irregularities.
Here are the details:
Photochromatic pigments adjust with the lighting so that you have natural looking makeup no matter what the setting,
Ultra-fine micronized minerals fill the look of fine lines and reduce the appearance of imperfections.
I am a huge girl power, dance track, fists pumping in the air to your favorite song type of gal. I am the girl singing “I Will Survive” into her hairbrush at the top of her lungs. That’s why I love Beyonce (and her Sasha Fierce persona), and I am not afraid to say so. I think she is an amazing multi-talented singer, and dancer. Yep, I was one of the girls blasting “Single Ladies” on her radio all winter long. And that dance video?!! My girlfriends and I still try to break out those moves whenever the song comes on the radio.
Elizabeth Eight Hour Cream
For the past week, I have had the worst, most infuriating case of the sniffles. I have gone through (no exaggeration!) three boxes of tissues. Needless to say, my nose has taken a beating and is red and raw from my excessive tissue use. Rudolf the reindeer had nothing on me! Last night in desperation I rifled through my medicine cabinet looking for anything to heal my now chapped nose. I stumbled upon an old standby that my mother told me to never be without.
Kevyn Aucoin The Rouge Hommage Lipstick, Gently 0.1 oz (3 g)
It should be no surprise that Kevyn Aucoin was one of my inspirations when I first started my career with makeup. His books were always a great resource for step by step guides to enhancing someone’s inner beauty. He was a genius at making everyone look and feel like the most beautiful version of themselves. So, it was no wonder he was the chosen makeup artist for such stars as Julia Roberts.
Lancome ‘Dual Finish’ Versatile Powder Makeup
My best friend Nikki has always been my makeup guinea pig. She gets to try everything I buy, and I paint her face with crazy new makeup looks all the time. She is always enthusiastic to try anything I give her, but she is also the first to tell me when something is less than stellar. She is a minimalist with her own daily routine, and likes her make up to look clean and natural….and take less than 5 minutes to apply. All this being said, when Nikki likes a makeup product I know it must be good. I also know it will be a product that is quick and easy to use, and doesn’t feel like she has any makeup on.
NARS Blush sets
I am no prude, but at this moment I am giggling like a schoolgirl because I cannot bring myself to title my blog “Deep Throat and Striptease!”. Maybe it’s just been a long day, but I think it’s hysterical that NARS cosmetics somehow always managed to create the most racy and inappropriate names for their makeup. This is the company that is famous for their blush called Orgasm. Need I say more?
