Cleaning makeup supplies is perhaps the task we all dread after creating a look- especially if you have to create multiple looks in one sitting. From cleaning, to never having to deal with sparkly brushes again, check out some tricks and products that will make your life so much easier when it comes time to clean your brushes or apply unique types of makeup!
Cleaning your brushes
Use a gentle soap (bar soap can do) to clean your brushes. Some people like to use olive oil as well. There are a lot of gadgets available to help you clean your brushes, one of which is the Sigma Brush.
The Sigma Brush is great since it offers different textures for a fast cleaning. Be careful not to totally submerge the handle, and let your brush dry upside down since the moisture might affect the glue (loosening the hair and wow…you get a big, black hair on your bride’s lips) or even turn your wooden handle into a mold playground.
Cleaning between colors
So let’s say you do a very colorful makeup or you are working on a series of looks. I bet at the end of the day you have over 30 brushes to clean. You were in a rush and had no time to clean your brushes in between, so you end up with all your brushes dirty and a good hour of cleaning to do. This time is over.
Color Switch by Vera Mona removes the color from eye shadow brushes, helping the makeup artist switch to another color quickly and efficiently. Basically, you now can do a makeup look with your favorite eight brushes without needing to double up on the eye shadow brushes.
Sanitizing your hands
Using the traditional hand sanitizer can become quite repetitive. Mix it up with a French Lavender hand sanitizer. Still killing 99.99 percent of harmful bacteria, the sanitizer smell marvelous and helps you relax.
Is glitter getting stuck in your brush? Try a Silicon Glitter Brush to stop ruining your brushes.
Makeup artist Jessica Smalls took Becky G's typically fresh and clean look and revamped it to a more grown up subtle look which is nothing less than sexy and glamorous. Read on to see how you can get Becky's new look:
Start with the eyebrows by brushing them into place with clear brow gel and begin heavily rimming the eyes with COVERGIRL Bombshell Intensity Liner in Pitch Black Passion. Once the line is dark and intense, apply a matte dark brown shadow to the lid, using a firm eye shadow brush. Once the dark brown shadow is applied, use Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Melted Caramel with a blending brush to blend the gold color into the matte brown. Using a clean blending brush, blend a soft tangerine color into the crease, to gradually fade and soften the brown smokey eye. Apply a wispy pair of false eyelashes and apply two coats of Clump Crusher Mascara and your eyes are done!
Moving on to the skin, hydrate your skin with oil free moisturizer and apply a thin layer of foundation primer. Let the primer settle for about a minute and using a dampened sponge, apply two layers of COVERGIRL Ready, Set Gorgeous Foundation in Natural Beige (205), waiting about 45 seconds between the first and second layers. Let the foundation cover what it can and then use Ready, Set Gorgeous Concealer in Fair (105/110) to cover dark spots and to brighten the are under the eye. Following the concealer, set your skin with truMAGIC The SunKisser on your temples, cheekbones and jawline to give your skin dimension. Finally, on the apples of your cheeks, apply Cheekers Blush in Pretty Peach (150) and sweep a loose shimmer powder over the entire cheek area and wa-la, your skin is ready to go!
Onto the final touch: Lips. Exfoliate your lips with a bit of granulated sugar and lip balm. Once your lips are soft and supple, use the remaining foundation off the sponge and apply it to your lips to rid your natural lip color. Using a lip brush, apply COVERGIRL LipPerfection in Heavenly (260) to your lips and top it off with Colorlicious Lip Gloss in Give me Guava (630).

Celebrity makeup artist Fiona Stiles worked with Gabrielle Union for the Los Angeles premiere of “Think Like A Man Too" on Monday, June 9th. Please see below for Fiona's details on Gabrielle's gorgeous look!
"As we were getting ready, Gabrielle, her hairstylist and I talked about the look and the dress. When her hairstylist said he was going to do a tight bun with a deep side part, clean and sleek, and then I saw the two piece Dolce & Gabbana dress, I knew I wanted to do a red lip and soft eye on Gabrielle. Bronzy skin, a structured brow, and flirty lashes looked unfussy while still feeling incredibly elegant.
I used bronzer on the eyes instead of shadow, to create depth, and skipped liner, making the eye feel too made up. I wanted to keep the eye all about the lashes, and the look about beautiful skin and a statement lip. Using lashes on the top and bottom opened up her eyes, and the stronger brow balanced out the strong lip. Just a little bronzer on the cheeks gave definition without looking ‘blushy' . Even though there is a strong lip, for me, the look is all about radiant skin. It always starts with the skin.”
Using all Neutrogena makeup with the exception of NARS lipstick for the final touch, Gabrielle's look was flawless. Fiona used Neutrogena Mineral Powder in "Tan" for the foundation. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Bronzer in "Sunset Glow" was used for the eyes and cheek definition, and Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush & Bronzer in "Raisin Glow" was used as blush for radiance. Neutrogena Healthy Volume in "Carbon Black" was the mascara used to open up Gabrielle's eyes , and NARS "Jungle Red" Lipliner was used to create the strong lip.
Celebrity chef and Clairol Natural Instincts spokesperson Giada De Laurentiis celebrated the opening of her first restaurant “Giada” in Las Vegas earlier this week with her nearest and dearest. For the big night, Giada’s look was inspired by the art and colors threaded throughout her restaurant, designed to feel like you’re dining in Giada’s home.
Julie Morgan, celebrity makeup artist and longtime friend of Giada De Laurentiis, got her hair and makeup ready for the event. Here’s how:
Giada’s hair was freshly colored with Clairol Natural Instincts Amber Shimmer (a shade change for Giada) which gave her hair a gorgeous light golden-brown hue. For the evening, she opted for loose voluminous waves to complement her Italian and Californian roots. To achieve this look, follow the steps below:
1. Shampoo hair 24-48 hours after coloring hair for best results
2. Blow-dry hair and apply texturizing spray to roots for added volume
3. Take 1 inch barrel curling iron and twist sections of hair while leaving the ends of the hair out
4. Apply shine spray
5. Turn head over and move fingers through hair and spray a medium hold hairspray all-over to hold the curls in place, like Herbal Essences Naked Flexible Hold Spritzer
To complement Giada’s soft locks, Julie went with stone and jewel-tone Smoky Eye Liner by Trish McEvoy. Giada’s overall skin, cheeks and lips were done in a rose gold hue (Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation, Jouer Rose Blush with Sunshine Bronzer and Rose Lip Pencil with Peach Pearl Lip Enhancer). Her look was finished with COVERGIRL mascara.
Giada’s wardrobe was styled by Stylist Sam Saboura -- dress is by Cushnie et Ochs and shoes by Givenchy.
I may not be the biggest fan of Kim Kardashian, but I can't ignore how stunning her wedding makeup was last week. As always, she was sculpted and contoured to perfection. Her makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic stated that “Contouring frames the face and chisels the cheeks, so basically it’s putting a little bit of bronzer on the hairline and jawline and on the hollows of the cheeks and the bridge of the nose. It thins out the face and gives warmth to the face.”
Yet, her makeup look is surprisingly attainable via budget friendly products. After contouring, Dedivanovic lined her lids with Urban Decay Ink for Eyes eyeliner in Perversion. Her full fringe came courtesy of her own brand of individual lashes and a healthy dose of Urban Decay’s upcoming Perversion Mascara. He topped off the look with L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lipstick in Nude Ballet (one of my all time favorites).
For her hair, Chris McMillan polished Kardashian’s luscious locks by prepping her hair with Living Proof’s Satin Hair Serum to tame flyaways. To add some more volume for the reception, he worked in a touch of the Amp2 Texture Volumizer and sealed the look with a blast of the Flex Shaping Hairspray.
