The Plastic Surgery A Model Needs to Look Like Barbie

0 1 0 1

This morning I was reading Yahoo's Fashion+Beauty section, and read the most incredible article.  As a "healthy" girl (or shall we say curvy?) myself, I have always been horrified at the medias perception of what a beautiful woman should look like.  Skinny, Tall, and a strong resemblence to Barbie seems to be the norm.  But I, like many others, am a whole different type of normal beauty.  Curvy, soft, and no where near a size 0.  Yet, I believe I shine.  Why can't we focus on inner beauty, the radiance of a woman's smile, the curve of her hips, and the light in her eyes.  I hope you enjoy this article as much as I did.

It has been awhile since I last wrote one of my passion infused posts on products or looks that were my latest inspiration.  To be honest, it has been awhile since I knew what to say.

For the past week I have rehearsed in my head all the new posts and jolly happenings that I would burst back into the blogosphere with; "It's New York Fashion Week!

Orlando Santiago Backstage Makeup

0 0 4 1

For the past two weeks I have been running around New York, and sucking up all the glorious fashion filled makeup looks that my fellow artists are knocking out!  Being in the city always fills me with inspiration, and stirs up my creativity.

One of my favorite artists and friend, Orlando Santiago, recently let me join him on set to get a sneak peak at his work in action.  His current fashion project  allows him to create classic, sensual looks  that can be recreated on anyone.  I tried this look below myself on a recent night out, and felt gorgeous.  And, to top it off, all the products he used were from one of  my favorite makeup lines, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics.

Here is the look below, try it out next time you want to feel like a goddess!

FACE:

Mineral Primer to start.
A light dusting of HD Powder in Warm all over to set primer.
Loose Mineral Foundation buffed all over for full coverage.
Petal and Bashful Blush mixed together for a soft flush.
*if needed, a light dusting of Sundance bronzer to warm up the skin.

Dex New York

I always find it inspirational when I meet other makeup artists who are generous with their tips, knowledge, and artistry.  As a makeup artist, we are supposed to connect with people and help to bring out everyone’s individual beauty, so it always surprises me when I meet other artists who are divas.  It just baffles me, but unfortunately I ran into a lot of them during Fashion Week.  Ugh.

That’s why it was a pleasure to meet Dexter Phillip of DEX New York and his key artist John Henry.  I interviewed both artists behind the scenes at The Green Show artist C.

0 0 0 1

When I think about Fashion Week and the runway, I don’t automatically think of manicures and pedicures.  How wrong I was.  Behind the scenes at Phillip Lim, I was introduced to CND Nail Designs, who created the nail looks for the show.  Actually, CND Nail Design was all over Fashion Week.  This company created funky, creative new looks for over 12 shows.
